Church the Awesome Way

We talked last Wednesday night about the how awesome it is to have church the way that we do. The big screen, the awesome music, the great band! We also talked about what it takes to do this every Sunday morning and make sure that we can always enjoy this.

There are many things that will allow you to be a part of making sure that we get to keep doing this. Setup is really important and you can all lend a hand. Setting up chairs, hanging drapes, carrying music stands, helping with instruments and the stage. Even someone who can watch little kids while the adults are setting up. Make sure you let me know how you want to be a part of keeping church as cool as it is right now!

The Passion of the Christ

We are going to take a break from Craig and Steve and that 100 foot fall. Oh, don't worry, we'll be coming back to it! There is a lot of wonderful things for us to learn from our series on After the Fall.

I want to take to you to a very special place and time. One that changed our lives for ever! On the week of February 24th, there is a movie coming to theaters called "The Passion of the Christ" Mel Gibson plays in this awesome film that accurately depicts the gift that God gave us many years ago by sending His Son to die on the cross for our sins. We are going to spend some time together over the next several weeks learning more about this and then we are going to go see this together.

You won't want to miss the next several Wednesday nights!

Fools For Christ

Next meet is on February 7th at Des Moines First Church at 9:00am! Come watch the Fools for Christ as the compete with their knowledge of God's word.

Erin Hemphill joined Elizabeth in our group on Wednesday night. We were glad you could join us Erin!

Eclipse

All papers and permission slips should be turned in to me at this time for participation in Eclipse in Council Bluffs on March 12th. They will be turned in to the District Coordinator on Saturday 1/31. If I do not have yours yet, make sure that I get it so that you do not miss out on this great time that we share with the teens of the Iowa District.

After The Fall

What does God have to do to get your attention? That is what we will be discussing over the next 12 weeks. 100 feet, 100 mph and 1 hour to live. One man's story of how God got his attention that will teach us many lessons.

Fools For Christ Study Reminder

Remember to study at least 30 minutes a night. This includes reading at least 3 verses of 1 Peter Chapter 5 each night as well as reading 2 of the memory verses found in the back of your book 3 times and writing those verses two of those times that you read. I am anxious to see the results next Wednesday night.

Nice to meet you Sara Miller

Sara Miller is the daughter of our new D.S. and it was our distict pleasure to have her join us on Wednesday night. We enjoyed getting to know her and we are excited about her family and the leadership that they will be bringing to our district.

Good luck Sara as you settle into your new home and school here in Iowa. Our thoughts and prayers are with you!

Fools For Christ Meet at First Church

Since it is close...it would be great if alot of you could show up to support our quiz team as they continue to compete in quizzing. It would mean a lot to Bethany, Julie, Liz, Jonathan and Justin if you were able to come and see their efforts! First Church is located on Douglas and the meet begins at 9:30 on Saturday, January 10th.

Fools For Christ Practice

Remember that practice resumes at Renee's on Wednesday at 5:00pm. Come prepared to work on memory verses. There is a meet on the 10th and we want to be ready!
